N°9

Hello and Happy August, I’ve got a few exciting updates. Since our last chat, I’ve shot two short films and moved into a new apartment— let’s jump in!

The short film I discussed in N°8 had an extremely successful shoot and wrap— I can not even begin to verbalize how grateful I feel to have been a part of this project.

Here's me standing in for lighting focus

It was as super small team and we were all more than happy to help where we were needed

Again, there is very little that I can disclose or show about the short before its release, but the writer/director is kind enough to let me include a couple of images in this months periodical.

These photographs are from a bar location we used for one of our scenes. This day was especially fun for me as a one person art department. The bones of this set are gorgeous to begin with, and I got to dress it with all sorts of set dec ranging from bar accessories like shakers and garnish holders, to almost-empty-watered-down glasses that I dressed on the bar and tables to indicate that people had been filing out and the night is coming to an end. In this scene especially, there were a couple of traditionally costume items that crossed into my department because they are handled like a prop. As a result, I got to work closely with the actors and help contribute to building their visual image and character.

Following the wrap of this shoot, I moved into a new apartment with one of my best friends. We are both born and bred Angelinos who took a 4 year long detour to Emerson College. She is a cinematographer and we are constantly making short films or music videos with our peers. I’m excited to see how we continue to grow and inspire each other in this new chapter and space.

Bliss…

Not to mention, I just wrapped another short film that shot this past weekend from the same team that worked on LIFE IS HELL. This writer/director is a good friend of mine and he always leans into sci-fi and gore. Which means that for me as the art department, I have a lot to play with. Here are a few photos from set!

I hope these photos confuse, tempt and entice you to watch this short when it comes out. Until next time— see ya in September!
