N°10

Hello hello— I hope all is well since our last chat.

I’m doing great! Long story short— the new apartment is amazing, I’m creating my own little wonderland over here.

The music video that I discussed in N°7 was nominated for, and won, a couple VMA’s this past week.

Not to mention, I have some uncolored stills from the short film I mentioned at the very end N°9, I’m excited to show ‘em off!

NOMINATED FOR VIDEO OF THE YEAR, BEST EDITING, BEST DIRECTION, BEST HIP HOP AND BEST VISUAL EFFECTS.

WON FOR BEST HIP HOP AND BEST VISUAL EFFECTS.

Getting to be an Art PA on this music video was such a treat. This is one of the more high budget jobs I’ve worked on, getting to see the way it operated was such a great experience.

SUPERBOY

On this film I served as the production designer, props master and set decorator. What can I say… I like to wear a bunch ‘o hats.

This is the story of an all powerful, and immortal superhero named Superboy. The people of earth love Superboy because he keeps them safe (think of him as a Herculean figure). That is, until a tragic event occurs that sends Superboy off the rails, turning him into a jaded recluse just when the world needs him the most, the start of a global apocalypse.

Superboy's hand-crafted weapon (the only thing with the power to kill him).

This was my favorite creation from the entire short. I found this axe head and fabricated a funky, makeshift weapon. The writer/director wanted the axe to look like Superboy slapped it together himself-- to be clear, he's not craftsman of any kind.

Blue and gray are the colors of Superboy's uniform, and that's his logo depicted on the side of the handle. I used a combination of carving and burning to get that desired effect.
