N°12
WOAH NUMBER 12!!!
That means this periodical has officially been up and running for one year now!
Thank you everyone for letting me share throughout the year.
This has been such a fun way to document my creative endeavors for the last year.
I think it would be fun to do an anniversary addition
and look at my favorite highlights from the past year…
Since moving back to LA, I have had several incredible opportunities working on low budget shorts. Whether that be my friends making a film with absolutely no budget, or being hired by other professionals to come in as a one man art department.
On the polar opposite end from low budget shorts— I’ve also had amazing opportunities getting to work as an art department PA on many high budget union commercials/music videos.
I feel like I’m getting such a well rounded foundation for learning the ropes of both low and high budget sets. It has been the most rewarding year of creating and being a part of art. I feel very grateful.
ZERO BUDGET SHORT FILMS
IN ALL OF THESE, I DID THE PRODUCTION DESIGN, ART DIRECTION, SET DEC, PROPS, AND ANY SFX
starting with….. our first zero budget short
Intimacy Junkie
production designer, set decorator, props etc.
For me, it’s always extremely hard to look back on old work, always noticing a million things I would have done differently. That’s one of the amazing, yet annoying things about filming your work— the final product lives forever. This short film, Intimacy Junkie, was the very first thing that my friends and I worked on after we graduated. There was a $0 budget which applied to every department. It’s definitely not our best work as a collective, I don’t LOVE how it looks and I almost left it out for that reason, however, this film was a milestone for us and I think that’s worth celebrating in itself.
next…. slightly higher budget because we got Zeiss lenses for filming
It All Started in a Parking Lot
