N°8
Hello and happy July— since we last spoke there has been a very exciting development in my world!
I booked a job as a production designer/set decorator for a short film that’s shooting at the end of this month. I am so incredibly thankful for all of the professionals I have met since graduating. I was recommended to interview for this job by the producer and director I worked with on the short film I mentioned in N°7, as well as N°5. As someone who is building their career, I am so thankful for recommendations like this, they mean the world.
I can’t show or give away too much in relation to this short film at the moment, but I wanted to take this time to show some of my mood boards and inspiration. Seeing the process can be so important, it’ll be great to compare all of this to a final product.
“Akin to works like Scenes from a Marriage, Before Sunrise and Past Lives, [title redacted] depicts a conversation in three parts between star-crossed lovers...”
These four images were some of the first visuals the director showed me, accompanied by these notes…

It was really important for me to depict this balance of warm/cold and light/dark…. striking the the right essence for the establishing scene. We as the audience are just being introduced to the two leads, this shot sets the tone for our understanding of their dynamic.
